This easy dill dip recipe is so easy to make; it’s ready in just 5 minutes! With either fresh dill or dried dill, serve this dill dip with vegetables, crackers, and chips.

It’s ironic that this dill dip recipe doesn’t live on my website, considering that I’ve made it almost weekly for the past decade-plus.

This dill dip is my husband’s absolute favorite dip, and he requests it almost every Sunday afternoon to be enjoyed with veggies throughout the week.

As a chef, I love that it takes mere minutes to put together, and as a dietitian, I love that this dill dip means my husband (and daughter!) will easily down an entire platter full of raw veggies in one sitting.

It’s so much better than ranch dressing, and if you like a creamy, cooling dip for your vegetables, then this dill dip recipe is for you!

Ingredient Notes

When I say this dill dip recipe is easy, I mean it’s easy.

Five ingredients and five minutes– that’s it! You can use any mayo or sour cream for this one, including dairy-free versions!

My mother-in-law swears by Miracle Whip for this recipe, but I really dislike the tang of Miracle Whip so I use regular mayo. However, you can use whatever brand you like.

I use dried dill because I always have it on hand, but in the summer months, when my garden is growing, I will add in fresh dill instead. In that case, I do about 1/4 cup of chopped fresh dill.

I also like to add in celery salt in place of regular salt and recommend that if you have it. Celery salt gives a slightly umami flavor and a subtle herbal saltiness that amplifies the other ingredients.

The horseradish also adds a nice, gentle zip to the dill dip. You can add to taste!

I prefer to place the dip in the fridge for a few hours to allow the flavors to meld, but this dill dip is also great as soon as you make it! Serve with veggies, carrots, cucumbers, and tomatoes are my favorites.

Tips for Success

You can use either fresh or dried dill for this dip recipe– up to you! I almost always use dried as I always have it around, but fresh dill also works. If you use fresh dill, then you’ll use more than dried dill.

For best results, let the dip chill for 1-2 hours before serving to allow flavors to meld.

This easy dill dip recipe is so easy to make; it’s ready in just 5 minutes! With either fresh dill or dried dill, serve this dill dip with vegetables, crackers, and chips.
Servings: 1.25 cups
Prep Time: 5 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup mayo
  • 1-2 teaspoons horseradish*
  • 2 teaspoons dried dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery salt

Instructions

  • Whisk together all of the ingredients: sour cream, mayo, horseradish, celery salt and dill. Mix, adjust to taste, and put in the fridge for at least 1 hour, or overnight.
  • Serve with veggies of choice or crackers!

Notes

*We like this a little spicy, so I usually add 2 heaping teaspoons of horseradish. You can also add more dried dill if you’d like– or can use fresh dill! If I use fresh dill, then I usually add 1/4 cup of fresh chopped dill.
You can sub other salt (start with 1/4 teaspoon and add more to taste) if you don’t have celery salt.
